Interpolation of Non-smooth Functions on Anisotropic Finite Element Meshes

چکیده
In this paper, several modifications of the quasi-interpolation operator of Scott and Zhang [30] are discussed. The modified operators are defined for non-smooth functions and are suited for application on anisotropic meshes. The anisotropy of the elements is reflected in the local stability and approximation error estimates. As an application, an example is considered where anisotropic finite element meshes are appropriate, namely the Poisson problem in domains with edges. AMS Subject Classification. 65D05, 65N30, 65N50. The paper deals with a non-conforming nite element method on a class of anisotropic meshes. The Crouzeix-Raviart element is used on triangles and tetrahedra. For rectangles and prismatic (pentahedral) elements a novel set of trial functions is proposed. Anisotropic local interpolation error estimates are derived for all these types of element and for functions from classical and weighted Sobole...

Abstract. An anisotropic a posteriori error estimate is derived for a finite element discretization of the wave equation in two space dimensions. Only the error due to space discretization is considered and the error estimates are derived in the non natural L(0, T ;H(Ω)) norm using elliptic reconstruction. A numerical study of the effectivity index on unstructured, non adapted, anisotropic mesh...
متن کاملCover interpolation functions and h-enrichment in finite element method
This paper presents a method to improve the generation of meshes and the accuracy of numerical solutions of elasticity problems, in which two techniques of h-refinement and enrichment are used by interpolation cover functions. Initially, regions which possess desired accuracy are detected. Mesh improvment is done through h-refinement for the elements existing in those regions. Total error of th...
